Darwin BG
First day birding in Darwin means a lot of first encounters.
George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens covers 42 hectares close to central Darwin and combines formal tropical collections with substantial areas of native Top End vegetation. The gardens include a dedicated rainforest gully with dense palms and other monsoon-forest species, alongside open woodland planted with native northern Australian flora.
The result is a much more varied birding site than a conventional ornamental garden, with shaded rainforest habitat, open woodland and managed lawns all occurring within a relatively compact area.
