Bendigo BG
About this location
Bendigo Botanic Gardens combines a historic nineteenth-century garden with newer landscapes along Bendigo Creek. The older Heritage Garden is centred on a billabong and mature shade trees, including some river red gums that may pre-date European settlement, while the Larni Garingilang precinct adds wetlands, ponds and more than 15,000 indigenous plants and trees. The site’s original vegetation was predominantly creekline grassy woodland, with river red gum, grey box and yellow box among the characteristic canopy species.
